Double yellows needed?

I don't think that parking is the major problem on that stretch. It's speed!

I've noticed in Charlesworth (which comes under the Derbyshire Constabulary) they are having "citizens" speed checks. These are done by small groups of locals under the auspices of the police and have PCSO present. They don't resort in prosecutions but miscreants do get a formal letter informing them what speed they were doing and what would be the consequences if this had been an official police speed trap. Quite levelling and acquaintances who've received them have told me that it has brought it home to them. The police back it up by occasional official police traps followed by prosectution.

It really has made a difference to speed in the village and made drivers take more care.

Perhaps it might be a good idea if GM Police adopted this method.

It happened next to where my son was walking home from school. he said a car hit the back of 1 and then that 1 hit the one in front of it. he doesnt think any of them had turned out of that rd. I hope the lady is ok who was injured

Hi,

Anyone see the accident near SPAR on 2/11? I saw the aftermath, and I have to say it looked like a big one; there were 2 fire engines there, 2 police cars and one ambulance.

I'm not sure what caused it, but I may have an idea. I know of several other accidents that have happened in the same place because cars have parked up on the side of Stockport Road, so that cars coming from Weatherley Drive have their view blocked and can't see cars coming from the right.

I was wondering if anyone else thought that there should be double yellow lines on this stretch of road? I know for a fact that the residents there all have driveways, so there's no need to park out on the road. Of course, I could be wrong in saying that this caused this specific incident (if you have any information about what happened, please post it up), but that doesn't change the fact that it has caused some accidents in the past.

P.S. I can understand if no-one is that bothered about this, as it is not in the centre of Marple and therefore won't affect a lot of you, but I'd value your opinions nonetheless.
