We were also informed by the police that they have been handing out lollipops to people coming out of the pubs late at night to calm situations down ?   It  started last Friday which they say is known as Mad Friday on the run up to Christmas and they will also be doing it this Friday which is Mad Mad Friday  and Christmas Eve    The police said it was a success in Canada so they are giving it a go in England  Now is it just me  ???

I was at stepping hill comitee the night before, where the police also extolled the virtues of lollipops. Apparently you are less likely to scream and shout on your way home from the pub if you are sucking on a lolly. :) well i guess it's worth a go

101?  does that go straight to the local police then?

Perhaps the call goes straight to Room 101.

It's the replacement number for the number we used to ring which I think was 872 5050   It's just now 101 which is easier to remember but it's still 999 for emergencies

The police reported that there have been quite a few house burglaries and   cars being broken into on drives in Marple and are asking the community to contact the new police number 101 if you see anything suspicious to aid their intelligence gathering !
