Have just booked tickets for tonight no problem - although they only had stalls tickets left. I imagine the cost of an online booking system would be too much for a small cinema, and I'm quite happy with it the way it is. In the big cinema at Stockport you still have to queue to collect tickets, even if you have booked online.

Live long and prosper!

I love this cinema: it's straight out of Cinema Paradiso. One screen, a grand piano in the upstairs lobby, traditional ticket office, heavy fabric drapes...the place oozes nostalgia and class.

I've never phoned for a ticket (I'm a queuer) so can't really comment on the efficiency, or otherwise, of their booking system. Doubtless the big players provide a much slicker service, but the cinema's many, many positives far outweigh this only negative - if indeed it is true that the experience of booking tickets over the phone isn't great.

Incidentally, I found an article about the cinema in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog/2013/feb/27/cine-files-regent-cinema-marple.

No problem if your ring right time .

I have found that if I ring at 6pm-ish I usually get through.

I love Marple cinema. It is much nicer and cheaper then the multiplexes. Yes you have to wait a bit longer for some films and have to catch them on the phone to book but it is still worth it. Definitely worth giving them another go.

Ringi

If the cinema operated in any other way it would not survive.

Best cinema in the whole of the Stockport area. We tried and failed to book for James Bond on Monday night 5th November due to all bookable seats being taken however they do have 92 unreserved seats in the stalls that are available on a first come first served basis. We opted to take our chance and queue up. we weren`t disappointed.
For the three of us (all adults) it cost a total of £20 and that was for 3 seats, 2 tubs of popcorn, 1 choc-ice, 1 can of cola and 1 bag of peanut m&m`s...cracking value for money.
Anyone who cant get through to book has always got the option to try their look for the front stalls seats.
I wouldn`t go to any other cinema...Marple`s Regent Cinema...is a REAL cinema experience.
Long may it prosper.

Regent is cheaper, and does not sell  sweets and popcorn that cost a fortune  like the big cinemas do  ( if that is your thing )

Also I like the mid way interval for an ice cream or drink,

My husband couldnt get booked up for the new James Bond film this week, but its on next week too :)

we got through on ring back eventually

Ringi, they were fully booked because the Regent is the best cinema in the area. Stockport wasn't booked up, because it isn't.

Give it another try. You won't regret it.

Being booked up is one thing, not having a booking system that works is another.

Ring them after 6pm Mon - Sat

It took many goes over 4 nights before they answered the phone, most of the time the phone was engaged, when I used ring back they did not answers.   Given there is a charge for ring back, I did not risk using it again.

In the end I got though to them and they were booked up.

I booked to see the same film at Stockport, on line with no issues and only a few minutes effort.   Maybe one day I will give Marple cinema another go, as I have heard that the seats are very good.   We are also now easting out in Stockport, so yet more money Marple as lost….

I think that all balcony seats at the Regent are very comfy, but the best of all are on the back row at the top of the stairs, I always book them!

I have looked at their website and it does to say how we can book some tickets, there is also no information about booking on the recorded message you get when you phone them.
