A huge thank you for the donations and words of support so far.  Special thanks to the members of the Marple and District U3A Gardening group, for inviting me to talk about my career in 'trees' and who have donated over £ 40 pounds for my challenge. Also Mr G White for his IT support. Thank You!!!! ;D

Some of you may have noticed the new banner at top right of the forum and also on the home page of the main site. This is in support of Dave Myers (of Myers Tree Care), who will soon be trekking 500 miles along the Way of St James, on his own and unsupported, to raise money for Mellor March Cancer Charities.

Dave is doing the walk in memory of his friend Simon Stockton, who passed away at the age of only 43 last year.

Dave has been a great supporter of the local community for many years - he was the first to pledge free practical help on the Iron Bridge Restoration Project and delivered without batting an eyelid when the job turned out to be much much bigger than anticipated several years later. He has also been a great help to Friends of Marple Memorial Park over many years, and I know he is also involved in all kinds of community activities in Marple Bridge and Mellor too.

So, it would be great if the whole community could get behind Dave on this huge effort, that is going to take around 30 days. You can sponsor him for £5, £10 or more at http://www.justgiving.com/davidedwardmyers

Please share the details of this fantastic endeavor with as many local folk as you can.
