Marple Hydro Scheme

It is my understanding that the adjacent land has recently been purchased by a company unassociated with the hydro scheme and is being developed as part of their business.

I recently had a walk down by the new hydro scheme at Otterspool, and although the actual site is very tidy, I was surprised to see that the adjacent land has been decimated, all trees and shrubs having been removed. Does anyone know if this is connected to the scheme or the reason why this has occurred.
