So the noise of some sort of band has been going on today from about 11am......I live round about the Norbury Avenue area and you can hear it with all the Windows closed not even open....so much for a quiet Sunday !!!!
....and this is supposed for be acceptable when it must be intrusive to all the people who live in Marple ? Not everyone wants to be disturbed in their own home.

That would be the party in the park. I think that perhaps we lighten up a bit. I live about 5 minutes walk away and its not bothering me. Poor devils they must be soaked!

It's not music it's just a noise .

You can't whistle to it like you could in the old days. They all have long hair, you can't tell if they are lads or lasses pffft.

It's nice to hear a bit of atmosphere and an outlet for creativity going on. It comes to something that people who live near pubs are complaining about noise before midnight.

Thank you all for the positive, negative comments and thoughts in regards to the noise level (band playing outside)on Saturday 3rd/August.  I would like to add "all legal requirements" had been sort and meet for that event. thanks once again.

There s a sign on the Royal Scot which says 'Live Music on Saturday' - I reckon it's that. I'm jealous-I only wish we could wander down and enjoy it as others have suggested! Anyone want to babysit?!

Little bit early hen bird I don't think most people go out until 10.30 at the earlist.

Generally this might be the case but there are some venues that cater for this. My band recently played at The Toll Point in Denton where they have an "end of the weekend" night on SUndays. They put a band on from 7:30-9:30pm so that everyone can continue with their weekend socialising into Sunday evening but still be home for an early night ready for the next working day. I really enjoyed this as well as I was home by 11:00pm rather than the 1:00am which is usual when we play on a Friday or Saturday.

I love live music too Howard, and go to lots of gigs, but can appreciate that people do not want thumping bass in their homes late at night. The last gig I went to was a charity event with 10 live bands, in a field at the back of someones house in Yorkshire, but it finished at 9 pm, so as not to inconvenience the neighbours. On the few occasions that there has been a noisy party/ gig close to me going on after 10pm, I have been most unhappy as I get up at 6 most mornings.

If you consider music too loud, speak to Environmental Health at Stockport Council, if it is too loud they will enforce restrictions - for example curtail licences, install sound metres etc...

Applications for a Temporary Event Notices/TENS are limited to how many you can have per year - I.e. you can't have one per week.

In most cases the pub was there before you moved in - so when deciding to move near a pub it should be a consideration about noise - as long as the pubs playing fair and keeping to the rules.
