a charity which gambled with millions of pounds worth of donations and had to beg for it back when the Icelandic banks collapsed!
i don`t think so.
when people give to these charities they expect the money to be put to good use immediately NOT put in an overseas savings account!
and how come all the chief executives for these charities earn 100k plus?
This applies to most charities .non of them do it for nothing .

Because it takes the same skill to run a huge charity as it does to run a huge business.

To spend all their income right away would probably mean they have nothing for a 'rainy day'. They need to ensure continuity.

That's just my take on it, I'm not qualified to do that job either, so should probably shut up.

The options that have been given are
1) Friends of Marple Memorial Park
2) Marple Cancer Charities
3) Marple Civic Society
4) New Horizons

This was a MARPLE organisation and it is choosing organisations in MARPLE that will benefit from the funds. I don't see a point in proposing options other than those that are listed.

Quite right . It's not as tho its thousands any way .

You're absolutely right, but it would be rather going against the grain for MIA to put the needs of the many ahead of the needs of the few!

Give it to The Christie. They will do more for the people of Marple than any of the four suggested organisations.

This is part of a public vote to determine the share of Marple in Action Surplus funds to be received by local organisations. MiA has over £400 to distribute amongst the four listed local groups/charities. Please vote to let us know which local cause is your favourite and you want to get the biggest share.

Funds will be distributed in proportion with the public vote here on The Marple Website Forum, on Facebook and on the MiA stall at Marple Food and Drink Festival tomorrow.

Note only registered users can vote in this poll.

Here's the link to the Facebook Poll https://apps.facebook.com/my-polls/mia-funds
