I stand corrected and am delighted to be so. Well done to all those involved in the process. A landmark achievement for Marple!

I'll give you a wave when I'm passing . ...

Great news - well done to all involved!   And I agree about the aqueduct - it's a magnificent bit of 18th century civil engineering, but not well known because it's tucked away and so hard to see from a good angle.  So making it more visible and accessible will be a huge step forward.

I hear rumours that the bid has not been successful. Does anyone know for sure, as the due date has now passed.

Never listen to rumours tony .

There we are, your rumours were incorrect and it is fantastic news. As well as everything that is going to be happening down at Mellor Mill and Roman Lakes, I'm really looking forward to being able to see Marple Aqueduct properly for the first time, something this web site has promoted and hoped would happen for the last 13 years!

I know for sure that a formal announcement will be made by the Mellor Archaeological Trust (and The Canal & River Trust) as soon as they are in a position to do so.

We should hear around the end of November. The first place any news will appear is probably on the Mellor Archaeological Trust site: www.matrust.org.uk
