Mrs Jean Procter MBE, famous for her work for the recognition of the Womans Land Army and the recognition gained in 2007 By Gordon Brown Prime Minister for the services during WW2, has died suddenly at home, at the age of 95 years on Sunday June 1st 6pm. Jean was well known throughout the Marple and UK for her long-standing work for the Womens Land Army and Procter’s Shoe Shop on Market Street, funeral details to be announced later.
