Inspired by Rachaels use of the rhyming couplet I composed the following, loosely based on the proposed housing at Hibbert Lane:
Shielded from the city of Manchester,
Nestles a village called Marple,
Which once had green fields and historic buildings,
But fell into a right debacle
Bulls that dozed in inner city sites,
Suddenly awoke and sought pastures new,
Ground their way down the motorway,
And destroyed a place beloved by me and you
History gone and Lego bricks go up,
Marple's face scarred and grey,
We are left dancing helplessly to cement mixers,
As nature and beauty pass forever away.
Progress always involves decline.
