Welcome Tom, and it's particularly good to read that you are keen to improve public transport - tram-train and other initiatives.

And of course, good to learn from Duke Fame that you are not a weasel  ;)

Thats my endorsement sorted then! :)

Good Stuff Tom, we need more people with a business background on the council to stop the weaselly  public sector attitude spreading throughout the town hall.

Hi folks,

I just thought I’d post an overview of myself and what I want for Marple.

I work for the Board of Directors of a small manufacturing business, based here in Marple, which employs around 20 people. I live in Marple, just by Marple College, and I am a keen runner, although @JohnBates is yet to convince me and my other half to get up first thing on a Saturday to do the Brabyns Park Run!

I’m running my campaign on three major issues facing the ward.

1.   Firstly, holding the council to account on the mitigation measures for Windlehurst Rd for the A6MARR. I’ve worked with the Windlehurst Area Living Streets group, and have recently succeeded in getting speed indicators placed along the road in High Lane and Hawk Green.
2.   Working with other Councillors, William Wragg MP and internet providers to ensure that Strines and rural areas aren’t cut off by lack of decent internet speeds.
3.   Campaigning for the Tram-Train initiative to Marple and improved public transport, and more generally so that Marple has a strong, fighting voice on the council.

Cllr Shan Alexander is standing down in May, and her and her husband has worked hard for the area and for Stockport. But, reading some of the threads on here, I want to be a stronger voice, campaigning so that Marple and the areas around it get the investment it needs.

I’m not going to use this forum as a slanging match between me and other candidates, and I hope that the election in May is a clean fight.
