New Bench at Possett Bridge in memory of Burton family

A new bench has recently been installed at Possett Bridge in memory of Jeremy, Warwick, Marjorie and the great Monty Burton, long-time Marple Councillor, Leader of Marple Urban District Council, Railwayman and very long-time chairman of Marple Carnival. I was very pleased to be able to help facilitate this by liaising between the Council and the Burton family until all the details were finalised, and delighted that it has now been installed. Here are a couple of photos of the bench provided by the council and also a photo of the Council Chairman, Cllr. Monty Burton and his wife at the Chairman's Civic Reception and Ball at Marple Baths Hall on 29 January 1971.
