Here's an update on the 3rd-5th November 2017: Arts and Heritage Weekend at St Martin's ChurchAs we continue to celebrate 150 years of worship on the site of St Martin's Church, we have an Arts and Heritage weekend.
On
Friday evening, 3rd November, in the Parish Hall at 7.30 we have a concert – cafe style - with refreshments and drinks available. The Cantus Bravura choir will entertain us with songs of yesteryear, both before and after the "Conversation with Margot". Margot Comer will reminisce on her life in Marple and at St. Martin's Vicarage, when her father, Rev. Harry Simmonds was Priest here in the late 1930s to early 1950s. She knew Fanny Marion Hudson. We hope listeners will join in with their memories too. Donations towards the evening will be welcomed.
On
Saturday from 10.00-4.00 and Sunday 12.00-4.00 the church will be open for visitors to see artworks relating to Rev. Ann's recently completed tapestry. She based her design on an unused design for one of the windows by Christopher Whall, and invited a number of groups and individuals to interpret that design in different media– silk, threads, paint and paper. The completed works will be on display, together with displays by the Heritage Trust and other local organisations.
Drinks, cakes and biscuits will be available during each day.
