The added cost of stock deliveries to shops could very well be enough to put some Marple shop-keepers out of business and for others to increase their prices. Business rates are high enough now to be putting shop-keepers out of business. There are already more empty shops than there should be in Marple and at least two shops have closed and their proprietors resorted to carrying out their business on-line.

Unlickly to be an issue, as delivery van/HGV in daily usage will have to be upgraded to the regs, as it will need to to work within Mancheser as well.    Also all recently made van/HGVs already keep to the regs.

Will this put up the cost of trades people in Marple, as New Mills is not included and therefore trades people based in New Mills may avoid taking work in Marple.   We already have the issue that trades people in Stockport hate Marple due to the traphic getting to Marple.

Also anyone providing services to horse riders in Marple are likely to lose out, as New Mills will be £7.5 cheaper per day.    But if a tractor is used to transport the horse, it does not need to keep to the rules, likewise if the horse is towed by a oversized car.

Other then taxis, minicabs, HGV and Buses, I am starting to think the zone should only be inside the M60.

If the M60 is not included, why should we have to put up with the pollution from people driving in the center of Stockport on the motorway?

The strategic road network (round here, basically that means motorways) is exempt from the plans.

At a guess, exempt because the motorways are not council controlled.  And also because motorways are treated differently.

Marple is inside the proposed Clean Air Zone for Greater Manchester

Clean Air Greater Manchester is consulting on proposals to improve air quality by applying a Clean Air Zone for buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles and HGVs across Greater Manchester implemented in 2021, extending to vans, minibuses, motorhomes and motorised horseboxes in 2023. The proposal does not include cars (other than private hire vehicles).

As part of Stockport and Greater Manchester, Marple is just inside the boundary of the proposed Clean Air Zone. So local people and local businesses using non-compliant vehicles will be subject to a £7.50 daily charge if / when these proposals are implemented. Non-compliant vehicles are generally those with diesel engines older than 2016 and petrol engines older than 2005. So, it is particularly likely to impact on small local businesses etc with older vans, motorhome owners, horsebox owners and the like in 2023.
