I remember my brother telling me that some time in the 1960s the local youths dredged up from the canal, the arm now filled in alongside Strines Road, a large quantity of bullets and “sundry items” and were drying them out on the school radiators when the local police came and confiscated them.

The said bullets etc were deemed to have been disposed of by the home guard after the war, so I wonder what may still be waiting to be found, or announce itself after all these years.

Well that explains the RLC van going through Marple.

It would seem that we are still finding unexploded bombs.

Yes, a chap has been magnet fishing and pulled out an unexploded hand grenade!

Thanks. I thought it must be something serious and that certainly qualifies!

Does anyone know what has happened to lead to the police closing off part of Station Road, near the canal?
