This year, instead of having a talk about Victorian Christmas or Medieval Christmas our December talk is about mobile phones!

Nigel Linge, the Professor of Telecommunications at Salford University, gave us a cracking talk on these iconic pieces of street furniture in November 2022. Instead of lots of boring details about a box made of metal and glass we got a fascinating journey through history and politics which also brought in architecture and some irreverent anecdotes. The talk was so popular we have invited him back for an encore this Christmas.
But this is the season of goodwill so we want you to invite any of your friends or neighbours who enjoy an entertaining night out to come along as well. They won’t regret it. As an extra incentive we will offer them membership of the Society at a special price of £10 instead of the normal £15. Not exactly a black Friday offer but its pretty good. So, spread the word and tell people that for a tenner they can not only listen to one of the best talks of the year but also free entry to other interesting talks and invitations for trips and summer outings.
