The big day is here and the Tour of Britain will hit Marple at lunchtime today.

The Tour should pass through High Lane, Marple and Werneth Low between approximately 12.30pm and 1.00pm.

For the central location of Hibbert Lane the timing is approx 12.40pm to 12.55pm.

Be warned that when they pass if you blink you'll miss it!

Here is a snapshot of the timetable:

The Tour of Britain returns to Marple on Sunday, 3 September!

Timing-wise the Tour enters the Stockport borough at approximately 11:30am via Woodford and Bramhall, travelling along Jacksons Lane and sprinting through Hazel Grove, leaving the borough at Marple before continuing onto Tameside. Hopefully there will be more accurate details nearer the time.

The route through Marple looks the same as last time, which was A6 > Carr Brow > Wybersley Rd > The Ridge > Church Lane >  Hibbert Lane > Stockport Road > Station Road > Brabyns Brow > Lower Fold > Compstall Rd > Cowlishaw Rd > Werneth Low Rd and off to Gee Cross and Hyde.

Here's a video from last time on Station Road and there are lots of photos on the Virtual History Tour: https://visitmarple.co.uk/photos/thumbnails.php?album=197
